I can’t believe I haven’t posted this yet. The Jacksonville Beardsmith Society made the front page of the Entertainment section of the Times Union! The article is the entire cover and there was a callout on the bottom of the front page! Man this is so awesome. This club is going places man. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without everyone in the club. I’m proud of this. Thank you all.
You can check out the article online here if you like.

So I made this website the other day called Beard Porn. It’s not bad at all like the name suggests. I didn’t really choose the name. Here’s how the whole thing went down.
Before Marisa got married, she mentioned to me that she wanted to start a site called BeardPorn.com where she would just post pictures of celebrity guys with facial hair because her husband Levi cannot grow a beard. So I took it upon myself to make this website for her as a wedding/birthday present because her birthday was just last week. So I present you with BeardPorn.com.
Enjoy that. And please everyone is encouraged to register and post your own images of beards. Have some fun with this. I’m quite proud of it.

This Saturday. I guess we’re starting at 8 so be there before the professional garage salers do. Sarah and I are moving soon, so we’re trying to get some things in order and organized before we do. We’ve got some pretty sweet things for sale. Operation, some sweet jackets, some shirts. She’s got some purses and shoes for sale. We have a 50cent bin put together, $1 bin, $5 for clothes, jewelry, decorations, vhs tapes (buffalo 66, virgin suicides, royal tenenbaums, ace ventura), lamps, games, candles, dish sets, pots & pans, and more. We’ll probably go through more stuff tonight and tomorrow as we go but you guys should come on out. Should be awesome.
We’ve also got some random antiques like this sweet barbers chair. hope to see you there.

Alright so I know it’s been awhile since I last posted. My bad. Anyway, a lot has happened and is happening. March is a crazy busy month. So last Wednesday, I did a Pecha Kucha at Art Walk for the Jacksonville Beardsmith Society. I think I mentioned it.
I’ll be doing a Pecha Kucha on the Jacksonville Beardsmith Society tonight at MOCA.
Yeah see, I did. Anyway, that was a hit. (Apparently more than I thought.) I don’t know it went well. I’m happy about it and I’m happy I did it. You can find pictures of it here. Thanks Sarah for documenting that.

Then this past weekend on Sunday we went to the Harvest of Hope Fest in St. Augustine, FL. It was pretty rad. Highlights were Murs, Ra Ra Riot, KRS-ONE and The Gaslight Anthem. Fun times were had. Sadly we didn’t stay til the very end to see the GZA with Snoop Dogg. We get pretty tired these days and I’m the one who had to drive home. And Dog & Pony Showprints did a sweet poster which I/they will update soon enough.
Then last night we went to see this guy,

and he was awesome. Well I guess now it’s just The Cardinals, but seriously the show was awesome.
And that’s pretty much the low down on things that have happened so far. I’m working on some major updates for JaxBeard, so affilliates of JaxBeard, hopefully some freelance websites (fingers crossed. I need the extra cash right now.) and some new drawings. I promise I’ll update soon after I get the major things done.
Oh and I almost forgot, Marisa and Levi got married! It was a beautiful wedding in St. Augustine. It was tons of fun. Congratulations to them.

You can find more photos of their wedding here and here. Peace out!

Everybody should come out to Art Walk tonight! I’ll be doing a Pecha Kucha on the Jacksonville Beardsmith Society tonight at MOCA. If you don’t know what a Pucha Kucha is, you can find out about it here. Everyone should come out and support. I’m kind of nervous about the whole thing.
You should also go to this:

That sounds like it’s going to be awesome as well. I hope I’ll be able to finish up in time to catch it. Fillup G.’s paintings are awesome and for sale and very inexpensive this economic depression. You should also check out Karen Kurycki’s paintings too. They’re pretty amazing. I was working on doing something for this show but was unable with everything else going on. Next time for sure.
Artwalk should be a blast. You can get more information on it if you need to at FirstWednesdayArtwalk.com. BTW, Great site Joey!

Ok so sorry for the lack of updates. I’m finally getting back on track. First thing, the February Jacksonville Beardsmith Society Pub Night was a blast. Tons of people showed up. The beers were flowing. It was awesome. Congradulations to John for winning Best Beard, Sam for winning Best Mustache and Amy for winning Best Handmade Facial Hair. I think everybody enjoyed that a lot. Now I’m starting to coordinate all of the March events. I think we might have one of our own going to the NYC Beard and Mustache Championships, and I’m hoping to take a couple of people down for the Dunedin Beard Contest. I really need to get a blog and a full site up for JaxBeard. Seriously. I know I have some more updates but I will probably get to them later on today. For the mean time enjoy some photos from last month’s pub night. There will be more photos after the jump, but you can also find some here and here. Thanks Chris and Sarah!
